No Camera Club in Boone?

Well then I just have to make it happen:

Watauga Photography Club PDF

Kind of scary. The Senior Center is going to do some publicity, I turned in a club listing to the newpapers, and the public library today. Hopefully, there will be enough interest to make a go of it.

Tom,

Camera Club is an interesting thing especially in the spring. Dump the digital and show them how to use the 4×5 Graphic. In fact, I’d like to see you take some more pict’s with it.

Good luck.

Yah, I would like to see more pict’s taken with the Graphic too…

However, when I try to hand the camera to very experienced photographers, about half of them stick their hands in their pockets and shake their head, No. For some strange reason the big black camera intimidates them.

However, the club is to cover all areas of photography, this is too small a population area to limit it, and if some one is interested I will certainly show them how to use it.

In fact I have been thinking of taking the Graphic, the Pentax, and the Olympus and setting them up in a display labeled “1950″, “1980″, and “2010″. It would make a interesting comment on the changes 30 year periods make in photo equipment. The funny thing is if you remove the flash sync the Speed Graphic would fit for 1920. Then removing the rangefinder and leather covering would make it fit for 1890. I wonder if those people who think they are turning the camera into a field camera realize they are actually returning it to its roots as a Bicycle Camera?
